Record Bulls to Boost PFRA Pasture Breeding in 1963
PFRA expects a record number of bulls to be used in 1963 to meet rising breeding demand. The program served about 41 000 cows in 1962 and will handle well over 43 000 stock this year, with 45 to 50 additional bulls. Bulls are conditioned at Bitter Lake and Archie pasture before service, and recent purchases include 12 purebreds at Regina and 33 two year olds at Brandon. Since 1940, PFRA has used over 50 000 bulls and serviced nearly 1 000 000 cows to improve livestock quality on community pastures.
