OFFICE, etc. 125 DISTRIBUTION 1258SEVEN SISTERS PALLS SOFTBALL TOURNAMENTSeven Surter* staged their fourth softball tournament on Sunday, August 24 and in spite of the occasional shower and chiUy bre«e the day proved to be a great sue*ess.Six teams, compoaed'bf Winnipeg Electric, Great Falls, Oldenburg, Hungry Nine, Winnipeg Transport and Seven Sisters provided snappy ball for the large crowd of ball fans.The first game of the day was to have been played between Ladywood and Hungry Nine, but the Ladywood team failed to show up, so the Hungry Nine team won by default Due to the rest of the teams not arriving on time, the Hungry Nine and the Winnipeg Electric (which had drawn a bye) played the first game of the day. The Hungry Nine won 16 to 4 and moved up into the finals. Seven Sisters and Oldenburg then met in their first round game. Seven Sisters winning by a score of 10 to 2. In the next first round game. Winnipeg Transports eliminated Great Falls by a score of 9 to 4.After a short intermission, the first semi-final game got under way between Seven Sisters and Winnipeg Transports; this was a cloaely contested struggle. For four innings, the two teams played perfect ball without a run oneither side. Then in the fatal fifth, the batting power of the Hungry Nine broke lose. A barrage of hits plus a few errors on the part of the Seven Sisters team was all that was needed to push across five runs. Final score after seven innings was Hungry Nine 5, Seven Sisters 1, giving the Hungry Nine first money.Mrs. Tony Frantz, wife of the Seven Sisters team manager, wasin charge of the refreshment booth and with the help of the ladies of the townsite did a fine job of feeding the large crowd.
