Minooka wrestlers win at PPEOTONE - Minooka defended its team title in the Peotone Wrestling Tournament by topping seven other squads.Minooka totaled 139 points for first place. Wheaton St. Francis was second. 121 points; Gardner-South Wilmington was third. 97; and Coal City placed fourth, 824 points.Minooka landed six individual champions; RayFonck (98 pounds), JohnMcKendry (105), Scott McCoy (126), Jay Ludeman (132), Dennis Geiss (138) and Mark Mitchell (155).“We wrestled exceptionally well,” said Minooka coach Dave Decker, “much better than I expected in some cases We have a young group of kids.“McKendry is showing tremendous improvement for a freshman and McCoy looked very sharp with two pins and a lopsided decision.”GSW had an individual champ in Carl Dinger at 112 pounds. Panthers Ray Provance (138) and RayBradford (155) grabbed seconds.For Coal City, Dennis Grosvenor (98 , Rick Grosvenor (126) Everett Leasure (132 and Phil Franklin (145) took seconds.Minooka opens its Northeast Conference season at Plano Thursday Coal City hosts Westmont Thursday. GSW hosts Reed-Custer Tuesday.
