IIHF president Dr. Gunther Sabetzki thought it was one of the nicest of ail anniversary presents.But that didn’t end the parade of Canadian well-wishers, as Uncle Harold Ballard got into the act with a personal letter on Maple Leaf Gardens stationery. ■And if that weren’t enough, more gifts were offered by Murray Costello, president of the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association and Eagleson.No other country was able to match such presentation.. • • •The list of Canadian and American hockey officials attending the celebrations didn’t stop with Eagleson.Among the Canadians were Gordon Ren wick, council member of the IIHF; Gordon Juckes, one of the honorees; Ted Hough, president of the Canadian Sports Network, Fernand Pelletier, president of the Federation Quebecoise de Hockey sur Glace and Air Canada’s Aggie Kukulowicz. T 1 r rThe American contingent includedNHL president John Ziegler, Minnesota North Stars’ George Gund and Walter Busch as well as Hal Trumble, executive director of the United States Amateur Hockey Association.~ Sabetzki, a journalist, was at his best during the celebrations, particularly after the Swiss Hockey Federation informed him they had commissioned Jozef Walter to compose a Sabetzki march.A smartly dressed Swiss band walk-ed into the room and played the new march with Sabetzki taking over the baton halfway through. He didn’t look exactly like Toscanini, Ormandy on Bernstein, but did much better thanexpected.Still, Bunny Ahearne, Sabetzki’s predecessor, just kept shaking his head.
