Mr. J, R, Riddellf for instance,spoke of the necessity of clubs filling all the Officewith the very best wen, owing to the crisis through which the game was passing calling for firm handsand clear heads amongst tl*e leaders. Then Mr. Deakin made out a strong claim for the Western league, which is quite capable of doing all the work which the much-talked-of South*Western League i.? so anxious to undertake. Finally came an encouraging financial statement from Mr. Haskins, who in two years has turned a deficit of £150 into a balance onthe right side of nearly that amount. He spoilt the effect of that news by intimating that a successorwould shortly have to he found for him. We know the work is heavy, but for the sake of the game he 0«if»ht to remain at the helm for at least another ?faeon.
