Woolsey. who issued a temporary injunction against Louis Murphy of Spring Valley, 111., restraining him from identifying his team as from the “House of David.”The injunction was sought bythe Israelite House of David of Benton Harbor. Mich., which claimed that the title House of David—and the beards—were it#trade-marked property.Judge Woolsey, In ruling for the plaintiff, said he had no Jurisdiction over beards, but that the combination of facial adornments and the name convinced him Murphy was attempting to represent his team as from Benton Harbor, and that couldn't be allowed.Murphy, in his answer, alleged the original House of Dafld team was not a bonaflde team of members of the faith and cited Grover Cleveland Alexander, the former National League pitcher, as an example of the ringera they used.
