Tourney play fun despite weatherThe annual Umpires Tournament was a success despite inclement weather, but the best Taos teams could do against the competion was a third for the ladies and a fourth for the men.Santa Fe teams dominated the top two places in both men’s and women's divisions.Vandersys of Santa Fe took home the winning trophy for the women with another Santa Fe team, Big A Auto Parts taking second.The Taos Lodge team finished third, and the Misfits of Taos were fourth. Trophies were awarded for first through fourth place.The ladies Sportsmanship trophy went to Floyd’s Angels.Lucille Martinez of Vandersys was selected most valuableplayer and one member of each of the 13 ladles' teams received an all-toumment trophy.On the men's side, Santa Fe Solar took top honors, and Santa Fe Builders Electric took second place. Los Amigos of Las Vegas finished third, and the Nobelmen of Taos were fourth.The Sportsmanship trophy went to the Kardiack Kids of Taos.Danny Grijalva of Santa Fe Solar was named the MVP.As with the ladies, one member of each of the 21 teams received an all-tourney trophy.The organizers thanked tournament director John Martinez and gave a special thanks to all the umpires who gave their time to prepare the fields for play and for officiating the games.
