ROBERI BRECHEISEN was elected president, GEORGE GREGGA and DON STOFKO vice presidents; ART HAINES treasurer and ED WICK secretary.The Little League meetings are held the 2nd Tuesday of every month. The group meets at 8 p.m. in Ivanhoe Park Fieldhouse. Anyone interested in the operation of the Little League is invited to attend. Public participation is welcomed, stresses ED SCOTT who has taken over the reins of publicity.There are more than 600 boys in the program. There are 36 teams made up of young fellas fromthe community. Adult leadership in some areas isneeded. Why not contact one of the men mentioned above, including Ed Scott at 849-5350? You know D-R Little League was the first sanctioned in this area when the national Little League organization was established some years past. •And, the D-R group has grown with the times. . .+ + +iIIII*i1FIVILittle League tryouts for Dolton-Riverdale will ^ be held on Sept. 6, Mr. BRECHEISEN announced. ^ Tryouts on Little League Field will be along the following age limits: Birthdate between Aug. 1, 1959 to July 31, 1960—at noon. Between Aug. 1, 1957 and July 31, 1958 at 11 a.m. Between Aug. 1 1957 and July 31, 1958 at 10 a.m. In other words boys born between Aug. 1, 1957 and July 31, 1960 areeligible now.Brecheisen stressed that boys must try out in order to play next season. Players on minor league teams are automatically registered.Registration will be held at Little League Field on Aug. 30 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and on Sept. 3-4 between 6 and 8 p.m. Here again boys not currently playing on a Little League team must register to participate in Little League baseball. . ._l_ _|_ _j_Congratulations are in order to Manager BILL BROUKAL and his coach BILL ROEMER of South Holland for the splendid showing of the Tomchaney Mohawks at Detroit in the National Baseball Federation tourney. Those Thornton and Thornridge young men on the team (along with a sprinkling of talent from other high schools) came close to bringing the national crown in Stan Musial baseball to the south suburban area. . .+ + +Here is a reminder of deadlines for sports in the now twice-a-week POINTER.
