Announcement was made of this today by Manager *.d Bruchet of the local hockey organization, Monro succeed* Odie Lowe, who resigned because of business reasons.The 'Son boss is already well fnown m Lethbridge sports circles is a catcher with the Reos base-jail club Scotty started his hockey career m Yorkton, playing m juvenile ranks there and then graduating into junior company in 1933-34 Mth the Moose Jaw Canucks Scottv. a goaltender, lined up with the Edmonton Canadians in 1934-io season and turned senior with Yorkton and Melville. He embarked on his coaching career in 1942 when he piloted the Yorkton midgets to the Soutnern Saskatchewan chara- ' pionship. The following jear, 1943, ne took over the reins of the Moose _ Jaw Juvenile Falcons and was sue- i cessful m capturing the Saskatche- ! wan title. In 1944 Scotty, brought home the bacon once again, this time as coach of the Moose Jaw Mcnarchs, Western Canada juvenile champions, who defeated the local ’Sons in Lethbridge in an exciting series, which launched Ed Bruchet, and his Native Son organization! on the road to success The year 1945 saw Scott} at the coaching end of his third Saskatchewan juvenile champion club, piloting the Moose Jaw juvenile Canucks to the crown. Last year he was the coich of the Graveibourg Black Cats, astrong inteimediate club, who lost \ out to the Notre Dame Hounds in the Saskatchewan finals.Outstanding Players Many of uie West’s outstanding junior players have been under Scotty’s watchful eye. Such noted players as Emile Francis, Metio Prystai, Bert Olmstead. Dick Suiter, Frank Ashworth and Gordie McMillan have all played hockey under the new ’Son mentor, In fact, Metio Prystai, western Canada s most brilliant junior player, who is ticketed for delivery to the Chicago Black Hawks, says all his | success m hockey is due to Scottj s help and guidance.
