Uorth Eastern Softball league, when they eliminated Seven Sisters two straight games in a best of three series. Roth games were played last week, and the scores were 8 to 2 and 7 to 5. This now leaves White-mouth and River Hills in the finals which will be a best of five series, with the first game going to Whilemouth as they were the league champs.Erie Rerrick pitched both games for the Hungry Nine and. as usual, wsa hard to hit when the chips were down. On the few occasions that he was in trouble, |ie managed to get the Seven Sisters lads to pop up. or to ground out. Ernie Harris caught both games for the Hungry Nine Rav Honke started the fir*t game for Seven Sisters, with Stan Oittins being called in at the end of the fourth and pitching three innings of scoreless relief Irvine Honke hit the only long ball of the night when he parked one up on the tracks for an easy three bagger Fred King made a nice catch of a long hull hit hv Eric Rerrick.The second game of the series was played at River Hills. This was actually the best game of the two, however, once again the Hungry Nine managed to wind up on the long end of the score. Highlights of the game, as far as the Hungry Nine were concerned, were the following— In the 1st inning Maurice Peles-hok got a hold of one of Git-tin’s “twisters and blasted it for a home run. and John Pederson put the wood to » ball that went for a three base hit That was all the long ball hitting forthe Hungry Nine. However, they say them singles will beat you and this proved true as the Hungry Nine came up with one big inning, to clinch the game.Seven Sisters had their moments to cheer, however, and as the game finished, had the tiring run at the plate with a man on second. For Seven Sis-•ers. Ray Honke smashed a ball into right field that was good for three bases, as an unfortunate slip on the grass robbed him of a home run. Walter Weltz and Stan Gittins came up with two baggers. Edward Honke. the old Oldenburg 'Flash. umpired both games and made a fair and impartial official.Golf Professionals to Compete in HamiltonSome 60 of Canada's top golfing professionals have filed their entries for the Canadian Professional Golfers Association championship to be played over the Hamilton Goif and Country Club course in nccrbv Ancaster, August 11 and 12.The Canadian pros will be competing for the Seagram Shield and $3,000 in prize money Some of those already entered are: Pat Fletcher.
