I got knocked around pretty good.”But they couldn’t knock back Erving’s whistling shots from the outside later.The triumph put Virginia into the East finals against the winner of the Kentucky-New York series. Those two meet tonight with New York holding a 2-1 edge in that best-of-7 series.The Denver Rockets defeated the Indiana Pacers 112-96 to even their WestDivision semifinal set at two games apiece.In the other ABA playoff game tonight, Utah plays Dallas in a West Division series. Utah holds a 3-0 edge there.The Ne\y York- Knicks beat theBaltimore Bullets 104-98 Thursday and squared their National Basketball Association East series at two games each. The Milwaukee Bucks won their West series 4-1 by defeating Golden State Warriors 108-100.In NBA action tonight, it’s Atlanta vs. Boston in a best-of-7 semifinal series in the East. They’re tied 2-2.Neither Virginia nor the Floridians was able to build a commanding lead in a tense first half that ended with the Squires ahead 57-52. The Squires, behind Erving’s great shooting, broke it open in the third period by pulling away to an 86-73 advantage.“I’m happy we won it in four so we don’t have to play Friday night,” said Virginia Coach A1 Bianchi.Bianchi said he was hoping that New York would beat Kentucky in the other East semifinal.“It’s no secret I’d rather play New York,” he said. “We beat them in the regular season series and I’m sure we can. do it again.”Milwaukee was fired by a third quarter fight between Lucius Allen and Fritz Williams. The,.
