The Enterprise mine on Ten Mile near Slocan City employs fifteen men and is steadily expanding. It boasts a large, continuous ore body and plans to reach full capacity, with potential sensational dividends. Ore shipments, including 2000 tons, have already covered development costs.
The Mining Reporter notes Calumet and Hecla on Lake Superior is the world’s most profitable mine. In thirty years it has yielded $53,859 in dividends and is valued at about $55,000,000. Quarterly dividends exceed $1,000,000 and annual net earnings surpass $6,000,000.
W. M. Heckman, a miner from Slocan City, lost his left hand after a blasting accident while loading a hole on a claim. An iron bolt tamping tool exploded the charge, injuring him severely before being brought to town for hospital care. An operation removed the hand, and he is reported to be mending.
A fire at the Antoine mine destroyed buildings save the cookhouse while workers salvaged gear. Hill's barge delivered rails and pipes for Wakefield Mine and lumber was hauled the same day. Ed. Stowart leading the Sultana group moved to the property Wednesday with men and gear, aiming to resume work rapidly.
The Cosgrove Company presented a two night engagement to a well filled Hall with complete success. If they return to Silverton another strong house is assured as they are the best company yet seen in town.

The Moyie townsite owners face demand from Canadian Pacific Railway land agents for a half interest in the townsite in exchange for a clear title. The threat of bypass and a rival town looms if terms are not agreed, while owners concede a right of way and ground for a siding and station. The dispute unsettles hopes linked to the Crow’s Nest Pass railway.
The Rev C F Yates will hold service at Silverton Church on Sunday evening at 7 30. All are invited to attend. Karl's Clover Root Tea advertised as best for constipation and money back if not satisfied, sold at The Silverton Drug Store.
