Jos. Connors returns from Twelve Mile where he has been mining the St. Lawrence group. A tunnel on the ledge has reached over 50 feet depth. The seven to eight foot ledge yields about three feet of concentrating ore and two to three feet of iron and lead carbonates. The property lies about six miles up the creek.
Provisions and mining supplies have been moved to the South Wales Group on Granite creek. A six foot ledge in granite with north south strike and east dip shows a paystreak of iron carbonate zinc and galena ore one to two feet wide. Buildings stand on the claim as a tunnel nears 80 feet depth.
The Ethel Fraction 8 property in Silver Band Basin near Eight Mile Creek, owned by Robert Ewin, shows a vein 3 to 4 feet wide in granite with a north south strike. A tunnel has reached 50 feet, dry ore now, expected to become wet with depth, assay values up to 800 ounces of silver per ton. A 50 foot tunnel also under way on the Silver Magle claim on Alpha Mountain, silver lead property owned by C Copp and C McNichols adjoining the Suprise Group Standard claim.
The Slocan City mining district reports systematic progress with key deals near closure. The Miners' Union elected J. R. Roberta as President and J. C. Tyree as Financial Secretary. Forty five miners protested at the Queen Bess wine over board preparation, prompting a new crew and cook at the mine.
