Interlake Manitoba designated Rural Development Area
Harry Hays approved the Interlake region between Lakes Winnipeg and Winnipegosis as a Rural Development Area under the Agricultural Rehabilitation and Development Act. The area, north of Winnipeg, includes St. Francis Xavier Rosser Rockwood St. Andrew's Woodlands St. Laurent Coldwell Bricksdale Siglunes and part of St. Clements plus Armstrong Fisher and Grah amdale districts. It faces rural adjustment problems but offers potential for grassland livestock, fisheries, recreation, wildlife, and possibly forestry with future projects to raise incomes and living standards.

Fluoridation Cuts Hartford Preschool Dental Clinic
Fluoridation in Hartford Connecticut reduced preschool tooth decay, leading to the closure of a dental clinic. The Health League of Canada notes Hartford’s water was fluoridated in 1960 and early health effects are evident. Director J Leonore Menenezer says waiting lists of 300 to 400 preschool children have fallen and only one preventive and one treatment clinic remain. The abandoned clinic cost between 5000 and 6000 dollars annually to operate.
