Parkland Rangers face tough cuts after weekend exhibition split
Parkland Rangers coach Mike Pernarowski weighed tough roster choices after 35 players attended two exhibition games against the Yellowhead Chiefs. The split series in Shoal Lake and Dauphin ended 6-3 and 5-3 in favor of the Rangers, then 7-7 and 7-1 in favor of Parkland. The coach praised young players adapting quickly to AAA midget hockey and aims to carry 26 to 28 into the Southwest Cougars preseason in Spiritus. The team next faces Yellowhead, Central Plains Capitals, and Eastman Selects, before an Oct. 3 season opener in Winnipeg versus the Wild.
