Fall Duck Flight Could Rise By At Least Thirty Percent

Aerial surveys by Ducks Unlimited during early September show a likely 30 percent increase in the fall duck flight compared with 1962. Conditions abated in northern Saskatchewan and eastern Alberta after years of high water, with ducks concentrating on exposed shores and mud flats. Habitat around Edmonton and the Athabasca Delta saw gains, while Lake Winnipeg marshes held steady and Saskatchewan River marshes east of The Pas rose. Migration in The Pas area remains similar to last year with comparable migratory geese numbers.
