Assault on cop nets jail time for John Friday

John Friday, 29, was sentenced in Dauphin Provincial Court to two years less a day for attacking Const. Jason Herbert of the Roblin RCMP. He pled guilty to assaulting a police officer, attempting to disarm an officer, causing bodily harm, plus house break and enter and mischief.

Police Report From Russell on Sept Patrols and Incidents

On Sept patrols officers cited Anita Ervick of Russell for Drive Over .08 after a routine stop on a grid road. The RM of Russell reports many semi trucks use a detour by the Ases sippi Ski Resort. Fireworks and trespass issues were noted with warnings issued. A two vehicle collision at Hwy 16 and Main Street left one damaged vehicle and a charge under the Highway Traffic Act. A Brandon driver earned this week’s Speeder of the Week at 148 km/h in a 100 km/h zone near the Yellowhead.
