Prairie Fire Prevention Act Regulates Haystacks

The Manitoba Fire Prevention Act requires haystacks in open plains to be protected by a ploughed or burned ring at least eight feet wide, placed at least twenty yards from stacks. Fires lit to burn rings must be done in the presence and with the assistance of at least three men. failure or neglect to protect stacks or to use three men when lighting rings incurs penalties.
