Canada Geese bag and possession limits cut in South Interlake
Federal Environment Minister Christine Stewart and Manitoba minister Glen N Cummings announce a reduced bag limit for Canada geese in the South Interlake Goose Management Area from five to three per day and a possession limit drop from 15 to nine for the 1998 migratory game bird season. The change aims to protect the Eastern Prairie Population as surveys show the breeding population at 161,300, 37 percent below 1996–97 estimates, with area spanning Teulon to Lake Winnipeg and Lake Winnipeg to the Red River. Snow goose limits remain unchanged.
