Canada Post raises parcel rates ahead of Christmas season
Canada Post increased prices on three of its parcel services effective Oct 1. The regular parcel service rose 13 percent, a larger jump than one and two day options. Company spokesman Brian Garagan said hikes reflect market conditions for non regulated services and that contract customers received 60 days notice. He noted peak season volumes rise from 4 000–5 000 to about 10 000 parcels daily and that rates aim to keep pace with private competitors like Purolator and UPS.
