Coated Wheat Outproduces Bare Wheat In Manitoba Trials
University of Manitoba plant scientist Kurt Schreiber reports that coated wheat sown September 28, 1967 yielded 53.5 bushels per acre, versus 35 bushels from bare wheat planted May 23, 1968. Trials in Red River Valley plots show higher protein in coated seed and earlier maturation with fall planting.
