Russell Clinic begins its annual flu vaccination drive aiming to surpass 700 patients after 360 were served last year. Dr. David Falk says the shot covers three flu strains and targets seniors and patients with chronic illnesses. A $5 fee applies to patients under 64. Vaccinations run daily 1 pm to 5 pm.
Local health workers host a Heart Health Awareness Day at the Russell and District Community Centre on October 26 from 10 am to 5 pm. Attendees receive information packs and questionnaires and rotate through stations on healthy eating weight medications diabetes blood pressure stress management lungs and active living.
Voters have one week to decide who will lead Russell for the next three years with two mayoral candidates and ten councillor hopefuls. A public forum Monday Oct 23 at 7:30 p.m. at the Russell Community Centre will feature candidate pitches and a question period. Yoram East stresses open government and service focus while Peter Perreault highlights small business and education, with both offering plans for town growth and accountability.
