Manley Calls Canada’s G8 Role Skewed by Inadequate Resources
Foreign Minister John Manley, head of Canada’s Cabinet Committee on Security, warned in an interview with the National Post that Canada suffers glaring gaps in intelligence, defence, and aid. He contrasted Canada’s spend with Afghanistan aid and U S commitments, rejected a perimeter border solution, and stressed maintaining sovereignty while boosting international engagement. He also discussed border management and cooperation with the United States, referencing talks with Tom Ridge and the need for stronger security.
