Picket lines formed at Manitoba Hydro facilities as over 3000 IBEW Local 2034 members walked off on the first Friday in October. Supporting unions CEP and CUPE joined, seeking wage gains and shorter contract terms. By the following week, tentative deals with CUPE and CEP gave an 8.9 percent wage rise over four years, while IBEW negotiations continued.
