Russell residents resist Memorial Avenue wall road access plan
Anita Zimmer of the Russell heritage committee warns a council motion could end the Smellie wall on 312 Memorial Avenue N. The wall, an historic Civil era landmark, would be altered to permit vehicle access, a move residents fear will erode land, destroy plants, and erase history. The Johnsons deny any front access and emphasize they own the property with no such plans.
