Government to spend $120 million on firearms program
Ottawa tabled estimates on October 8 2004 showing the Liberal government will spend 120 million on the Canadian Firearms Program next fiscal year. MP Inky Mark argued the fund focuses on public relations rather than training, noting gun owners pay for safety courses and licenses renewals for some, while others renew free or face a 60 fee. The critic called the registry wasteful and unfair.
