The Manitoba Telephone System starts distributing the 1978-79 directory to about 170000 customers with 560 white pages and 576 yellow pages, larger type and added cross country ski imagery on Brandon near Canada Winter Games. Pelly Trail board gains new committee members and trustees
The final meeting of the former Board on November 1 approved hiring Mrs Mildred Johnson as half time teacher for Binscarth School and recommended a teaching post overseas. The inaugural meeting on November 8 welcomed three new trustees Jena Cote Leonard Derkach and Marcel Sheeshks. The board set officers for 1978 79 and formed a policy handbook committee led by Leonard Derkach Myrcel Sheeshka Vince Furman and others. The group also approved a school float donation and rejected purchasing Angusville School for the offered price.

Conservatives set meeting for Neepawa
Frank Sims of MacGregor Manitoba president of the Portage Marquette Progressive Conservative Association said a nomination meeting is set for Monday November 27 in the Yellowhead Centre Neepawa. Registration starts 7 p.m. and the meeting at 8 p.m. Four candidates have signaled for the PC nomination to represent the Portage Marquette constituency in the next federal election: Frank Price Rivers Cliff Cottingham Birtle Cliff McNichol Gladstone and Mel Taylor Minnedosa. The present MP Craig Stuart Minnedosa announced last spring he will not seek re election. The Portage Marquette constituency was renamed after redistrib rution in 1976 and now stretches about 2365 kilometers in length and 136 kilometers wide from Poplar Point to Russell to Riding Mountain to the Assiniboine River north of Genaboro. Local girl killed in Saskatchewan accident near Swift Current
A two vehicle crash west of Regina at a grid road junction last Saturday claimed the life of Linda Wishert, 20, of Winnipeg and daughter of Anna Wishart and Albert Wishart. Others injured include Van Fon Wondernae Ros and Evie Whitmer, both reported in good condition.
