When Fire Strikes Get Out Stay Out Safety Week Theme
Fire Prevention Week ran October 5 to 11 with the theme When Fire Strikes Get Out Stay Out. Local fire officials and a school taught fire safety, stressing crawl low under smoke, quick evacuation, and a prearranged meeting place. Families are urged to install and maintain smoke alarms on every floor, test batteries with clock changes, and call 911 after exiting. If trapped, stay near a window, signal for help, and remain in a room with the door closed until rescued.
