Increased barley and oat prices urged by line elevators
The North-West Line Elevators Association asks the Dominion Government to raise barley to 92 cents and oats to 73 cents per bushel for grains delivered since August 1 1945. They also urge restoring a five cent premium on malting barley and propose price changes to wheat. The submission cites $63 992 000 in freight subsidies to eastern and B C feeders from 1941 to 1946 and warns the policy may erode western livestock production.
