May Sts club meeting amid poetry and sea voyage memories
The text recalls a local social club meeting at Irene Thickett’s home on May Street with eight officers elected including President Dorothy Shaw and Vice-President Jo Spencer. It nods to a yard programme, a reporter role, and a donated ginny Adolghe prize, interwoven with verses about sea ships, Gloucester and Rockport, and painterly descriptions of Atlantic storms and European study.
