Hospital Premiums Rise 80 Percent in Manitoba Plan
Health minister Hon. C. H. Wiley announced May 1 that Manitoba Hospital premiums will rise by 1.60 a month for a single and 3.20 for a family, totaling 3.60 and 7.20 respectively. The hike reflects sharply rising hospital costs from 1959 to 1967, when total costs grew from 27 million to 62 million, with premiums shrinking as a share of expenses.
