Flood threat eased as Manitoban communities avert disaster
In 2014 Waywayseecappo and Birtle endured a near flood disaster. A 200 metre berm cut relieved pressure on Birdtail Creek allowing 100 to 150 cubic feet per second to flow away. Evacuations occurred for 73 residents to Russell and 39 others elsewhere. Emergency crews reinforced water facilities as a potential flood crest receded.
