Manitoba agronomist Marcel Barnabe reports intermediate wheatgrass with alfalfa yields 10 to 20 percent more than brome alfalfa mixtures. Wheatgrass establishes fast, recovers quickly after grazing, and supports a higher stocking density, staying green in summer but less drought tolerant and susceptible to winterkill after very dry falls.
