Smart Rink Captures Novelty Spiel Honors

The Russell Curling Club boosted the novelty bonspiel with an $80 prize. Forty three rinks competed as Tom Smart led the first event winning with Gwen Smart J Murphy and B Mintenko. Roy Cusitar’s team took second after upsetting Eddie Leifer in the semi. The Perrin rink won the second event defeating Tom Jackson Lil Adolphe W Kurbis and Pet Forsythe with semi final wins over Frank Schentag and Jack Wilson.

The Institute Ode meeting opened with Mrs. E Keating at the piano in Mrs Dick Cochrane’s absence. Nine members shared humorous philosophy quips as minutes from February were approved and plans were made to thank Mrs Ted Phillips for typing the program and send a copy to district president Mrs Van Drecht. A committee to frame our Charter was proposed and Mrs E Cochrane gave a notable Easter themed demonstration decorating a lake with a bunny and color eggs.
