The plan envisions a large scale ethanol plant near the Saskatchewan border at Harrowby producing 160 to 200 million litres annually. It would provide about 45 permanent jobs, with construction adding roughly 200 more over two years, and require about 200 million bushels of feed wheat each year.
The plan proposes moving all high schools to bus students from Strathclair to Shoal Lake starting in September 2009 while sending Shoal Lake elementary students to Strathclair. Most riders travel under an hour with pickups no earlier than 7 30 am. If smaller schools close in Rossburn, Birtle, or Hamiota, high schoolers would be bused to Major Pratt or Shoal Lake.
