Earth Hour 2008 moves from Sydney to Russell town
Russell mayor Eldon Montgomery and town council promote Earth Hour to March 29, urging residents to switch off lights from 8 to 9 pm for one hour. Schools, eateries, and Manitoba Hydro are asked to participate with candles, candlelight venues, and a Millennium Park ceremony to raise awareness of global warming. Local officials push a community block party to mark the event.
