Math exam praised by teachers or criticized by students
Major Pratt students faced a tougher math exam than anticipated with 40 minutes less time and two questions outside the curriculum. Only one student failed to pass overall, while many saw substantial drops in math grades. Critics say exam presentation and terminology, plus no partial marks, disadvantaged students and strained teacher relations with the Department of Education. Montgomery confirms provincial concerns and calls for clearer outcomes and midcourse stability. MASt and school divisions seek a review of both results and administration.
