Russell district loses another old timer James Hugh Farthing aged 82 who had retired to Langenburg before moving to Russell in 1937. Born in Lowestoft England he married in 1878 and came to Canada, later farming at Craigie and Wook up. He served as Russell councillor and aided the dairy industry and Grain Growers Association. Funeral at Knox United Church was followed by interment at Kunsell cemetery. Council members attended in a body.
