Annual Meeting and Red Cross notes in Binscarth
The Annual Meeting of the Binscarth Red Cross Society in the Library on March 5 heard a treasurer’s report showing 1900 dollars to Headquarters and 54.25 dollars remaining to start this year’s campaign. A pool report by J. Thompson read by L. Barrett and the poet’s financial report noted a good summer. Officers will serve another season and a note urged writing Headquarters for sewing or knitting materials for volunteers. Curling results from local rinks highlighted top finishers at Langenburg and Inells, with other picks in Birtle and Russell events.

Lake of the Prairies Ice Shelters Ordered Removed
Manitoba Natural Resources asks all ice fishermen on Lake of the Prairies to remove fishing shacks immediately. Spring runoff from Assiniboine River above Shellmouth Dam will raise flood risk, so Shellmouth Reservoir will be lowered to prepare for runoff. By March end water levels are expected six feet lower, risking unsafe ice conditions.
