Manitoba Expands Classes for Retarded Children in 1967
The Manitoba government moved to educate educable and trainable mentally handicapped children by creating more class options in public schools. Officials report a 56 percent rise in classes since policy took effect, with projections to 335 educable and about 100 trainable classes by 1970. The plan embraces integration with regular schooling where feasible and outlines a three level curriculum emphasizing skill development, work assessment, and vocational training.
