Centennial Fair Celebrates One Hundred Years in Russell
Rain or shine the Russell Agricultural Society marked its centennial with a banquet for 170 guests, speeches by dignitaries, a commemorative cake, and a parade of events at the tourist park. Lucille Starr headlined a Saturday concert and encore, while nearly 500 enjoyed a pancake breakfast before the rain. The Derby winner Johnny Slavuta claimed the overall title for a second year, and preparations for next year’s fair began as beef on the run fed the crowd before closing ceremonies.
