Manitoba moves to metric in two ag sectors with July 1 as the switch date for feed and a phased plan for fertilizer. Orly Friesen notes feed changes complete by July 1 1979 for fertilizer gradually. test weights switch to metric in grain analysis and lab reports will use kilograms and tonnes for formulations. Dr Allan Cox says the feed lab will propose metric ration formulations as the transition progresses with soil analysis service tracking the change.

Ladies Golf Tourney at Russell Course Honors Winners
Russell Ladies Golf Club hosted an 18 hole event with social hour at the Laing home and a smorgasbord supper. Arlene Burla led first flight with two other top finishers. Tina Kaus and Val Brown topped subsequent flights. Two special prizes went to Burla for closest to the pin and longest drive. Manitoba Ladies Golf Association visitors assisted with rating the course and offered handicap insights.

Russell Chapter 10 Order of the Eastern Star thanks contributors to the Mental Health canvas with final totals to be announced. June meeting honored Worthy Grand Matron Mrs Alexander of Winnipeg and Worthy Grand Patron Mr Gamey of Roblin with visiting chapters from Dauphin Roblin Minnedosa Shoal Lake Birtle Foxwarren Winnipeg and Brandon. A pot luck supper was held at the United Church Basement for about 40 members and visitors. The chapter notes international attendance at Grand Chapter Sessions in Winnipeg Regina and Jackson Mississippi and mentions continued activity through September.
