The Legion and a Canadian Army Unit plan Kiddies Day for Monday at Silver Beach. Parents are asked to bring children in the afternoon. army vehicles will transport those without transport if they assemble at the Memorial Park before 4 pm. The unit will stay in Russell for the full week.

38 Coming Up 83 On Goodwill Tour North
A chartered bus departs Liveral Kansas on July 20 for a 10 day 3000 mile trip along US 83 through the Great Plains Highway Association. About 38 travelers will visit Manitoba 83 Highway Association regions, meet Melita Chamber members in Manitoba, spend a night in Russell, then continue to Swan River before returning home.

Sunday Luncheon for Touring Teachers in Russell
A group of 33 touring teachers from Manitoba stopped at Smitty's Grill Sunday noon for a luncheon hosted during their two hour stay in Russell. Mayor J A Burgess, Reeve Jas Rea, A G Smellie, Dick Wheatley, Frank Robertson and Mrs J G Kippan attended. Mrs Kippan keynoted on self reliance with pioneer stories. Afterward the party toured the town with Frank Robertson narrating and pictures taken at the Manor before resuming their southern Manitoba itinerary.
