Fifty grads bid farewell to Major Pratt School
Fifty graduates from Major Pratt celebrated the Class of 95 at Russell Community Centre. The event featured creative props and decorations, with Jerrod Cox receiving the Governor General's Award and Brandy Laycock delivering the Valedictory. Thirty six bursaries were awarded, Faye Woodhouse earning five. Principal Beate East lauded the students as families hosted Safe Grad at the Kingdon farm.

Russell Homecoming Weekend Draws Manitoba 125 Crowd
Russell gears up for homecoming July 14 to 16 with a packed agenda. Registration and visits at the community centre begin Friday at 1 PM with wine and cheese at 7 PM. A wiener roast and fireworks close the day. Saturday features a pancake breakfast 7 to 10 AM at the fire hall followed by a downtown parade at 11 AM.

Safe Grad largely uneventful in Russell area
Police report Safe Grad mostly quiet with no major incidents. On July 22 three youths were charged with consuming alcohol under 18 after a vehicle check on Alexandria. Multiple incidents followed including impaired driving, a hit and run, a spouse assault, NSF cheques, suspended license driving, a dirt bike warning, a break in and theft at a farm shed, and a petty trespass charge during Safe Grad with one youth detained briefly under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act.
