Russell Town Council set as court of revision Thursday June 19 to hear appeals against the 1947 business tax assessment and electors' roll. Council adopts revised tax and electors rolls
Mayor Mather and all councillors attended the court of revision and the June 26 meeting where the council approved the revised tax assessment roll for 1947 and adopted the amended electors roll for 1946. Only routine business passed with accounts paid totaling 89.21 dollars.
Prizes Awarded At School Closing Day
Over seventy five parents and students attended the school closing exercises held in the wool auditorium on Friday. Mr. Dalton chaired the day as prizes were distributed for academics and athletics including the Lord Nelson shield to Bob Anderson and the Northwestern Manitoba hockey shield to Charles Buchanan. W W Wilson spoke on schooling outcomes and presented promotion diplomas to pupils who completed their studies.

Man Hurls Self From Bus In Demented State
A man about 35 from the Yellowknife country went berserk Friday evening on the late bus and leaped through a window as it neared 40 miles an hour south of Binscarth. He survived, hospitalized under police care, then moved to Brandon by police Saturday.
