The Banner County Health Foundation remains active with a volunteer board funding equipment services and programs in healthcare for Russell and surrounding areas. In 2006 it supported a blanket warmer for the Personal Care Home a summer student activity program bursaries for health graduates start up repayable loans for new medical and dental practitioners and other health initiatives funded from donations. The board thanks supporters for ongoing financial assistance to sustain local health services.
On January 20 at 4 00 am a home invasion was reported and a single motor vehicle accident involving a ski doo occurred. The driver was taken to Yorkton for serious injuries and is now in stable condition. On January 22 police were sent to a Russell home after a break in and cash was stolen. investigation continues.
