Prairie ministers walk out over farm funding plan
Manitoba and Saskatchewan ag ministers left a day long Ottawa meeting in protest against a federal plan to deliver 1.8 billion over two years to farmers. They warned the funding formula, tied to crop insurance and NISA, could hurt Prairie farmers and questioned provincial participation. The dispute centers on cost sharing, potential cuts to provincial allocations, and the fate of 100 million dollars yearly for Saskatchewan and 30 million for Manitoba.
