Joe Clark's Tories seat costs revealed
The Conservative Party spent 4.5 million to win 12 seats in the November election and retain status. They say they were under budget by about 500,000 across a national campaign not reaching Saskatchewan or the three territories and expect debt around 8 million. Stockwell Day's Canadian Alliance spent roughly twice as much to win 66 seats. Susan Elliot touts efficiency of the Tory campaign while noting ongoing debt and a charter plane bill from 1997.
