Grain discussion fuels push for farmer elevator in Russell

A Saturday Foresters Hall meeting drew a large crowd to debate grain issues. Wm S Crerar was named chair and W McKay secretary as talks favored a farmer's elevator with 60 000 bushel capacity in Russell and shares offered by Reeves of Russell Silver Creek Shell River and Boulton. A subsequent motion authorized representatives to canvass two people per municipality for 50 dollar shares.

A social and entertainment event will be held at Axessippi church on Friday January 1st to raise funds for seating the church. The Arnold and Snider families arrived by train on Friday while the Johnson Bros threshing outfit has shut down for the season. Mr Pitheld of Bittern Lake district promised gramophone selections.

D M MacKay led, stressing courage rooted in Godly character. The group adopted the motto Keep your feet upon the ground and your eyes on the stars, with music interludes by the choir.

Twenty eight turkeys were shot at James Kippan’s, with Mr C Stewart’s turkey drawing attention though a fatal brain injury is suspected from the gunfire reports.
