Roblin Wins Minor Tournament In Eight Team Hockey Event

Roblin captured the Russell Minor Hockey Association twelve and under tournament title by defeating St Lazare 6-4 in the final. Roblin also beat Grandview 4-2 and Binscorth 7-5, while St Lazare beat Foxwarren 4-2 and Birtle 8-2. Awards were given for best goaltender Joel Fouillard, best forward D Fouillard, and best defenceman Kirk Aggar. An 8 and under tournament is planned for January 24 at Russell Memorial Arena during Minor Hockey week.

Agricultural Society Sets Agenda for New Year Meeting

The Russell Agricultural Society opened its year January 9 at 7 30 pm in the Department of Agriculture offices with 16 members. Minutes and the financial report were approved. Directors and prize lists were discussed. Art Kinney volunteered to secure odds for the prize list and printers were eyed for early distribution. Harness meet date June 20 was deemed ideal and four members planned to attend the Great Western Trotting Association meeting in Virden January 10.

School Yearbooks On Order And After School Club

A display on migration decorates the main foyer while 15 16 high school yearbooks are on order. Orders contact Joy Garnett Janice Chandler Tinda Wishart Joan McLeod Lori Keating Miles Part or Mr Huff. Yearbooks cost 350 soft cover 450 hard cover and engravings 50. Junior High Sports Club meets 4 to 6 pm Tuesdays in the Junior High Gym supervised by Mr Wittke and other teachers. Cafeteria closed on Tuesdays and Thursdays due to worker shortages.

Manitoba births marriages deaths fall in 1975

Manitoba Vital Statistics reports 1975 births at 15 653 down from 16 141 in 1974 and marriages at 7 845, a drop of over 800 from 8 671 in 1974. Deaths are estimated at 7 577, slightly lower than 7 644 in 1974, with incomplete year end figures for November and December. June remains the top marriage month, while May records the highest births, and July the peak death month.

Deloraine Royals Beat Rams 7-2 in Local Hockey clash

Russell Rams defeated Neepawa Natives 42 in Neepawa last Friday. Gilles Chartier led the Rams with two goals, with singles from Doug Fowler and Ed Thom. Natives scorers were T Smith and Larry Evans. Royals dominated next night 7-2 over Rams at home, aided by nine Deloraine players in scoring and a three-goal burst in the third period.
